Tommy McManus, founder of the Acchords originally hails from Brooklyn, NY. He began his show business career at the tender age of 3 when he appeared on the "Johnny Olsen Show" in 1948 on NBC . By his mid teens, Tommy was an accomplished vocalist, songwriter, musician, comedian and character actor.
During those teenage years Tommy could be found playing the Manhattan nightclub circuit, Brooklyn Paramount Theater and The Rockaways. From 1959 -1963 Tommy was known as " The Hottest Sax in Town" where he was spotted by talent scout Lucky Leighton who signed him to perform with the Clay Cole Orchestra.
Tommy has appeared on the" Joe Franklin Show " "Jack Bilby All-Star Show" television shows and with Roy Scheider and Meryl Streep in the motion picture " In The Still of the Night.
You may have caught Tommy's Winner Ford commercials on late night TV or heard one of his 130 voice impressions performed in radio and TV commercials throughout the Metropolitan Area.
Today Tommy continues to perform and is considered to be one of the finest vocal and comedic talents around. |
